    Dean Close St John’s is a thriving independent, co-educational day and boarding school situated on a lovely countryside plot overlooking Chepstow.

    In June 2015 the School and nurseries were acquired by the Dean Close Group.  This is a very exciting time for St John’s and it is felt that this brand new post will offer lots of challenges and enjoyment.      

    This is a new, part-time position for an experienced, highly motivated, marketing professional to manage the day-to-day marketing activity of St John’s Nursery, Pre-prep and Preparatory School, and the two nurseries.  The candidate will report in to the Headmaster and also the Director of Marketing (based in Dean Close Senior School).

    The Theatre Team endeavour to maximise the use of performance venues across Dean Close School, including The Bacon Theatre, Tuckwell Amphitheatre, Prince Michael Hall and 1914 Centenary Hall, by producing a dynamic schedule of theatrical productions, concerts, cinema screenings, satellite broadcasts and commercial events for both internal and external clients.   The dedicated team of casual Front of House staff are invaluable in their presentation of these venues and in creating an excellent impression of the wider school.

    The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in a high volume payroll environment.  Previous experience in a private school preferable but not essential.  Previous experience of IRIS Payroll preferable.

    The payroll department is responsible for managing the payroll for all of the Foundation’s operations.  These include Dean Close Pre-Prep School, Dean Close Prep School and Dean Close School which are set in 50 acres of parkland near the centre of Cheltenham, Dean Close St John’s School in Chepstow and 5 day nurseries in various sites in Cheltenham, Chepstow and Gloucester.

    Senior IT Support Engineer

    Dean Close School is in the process of outsourcing its IT Managed Services to RM Education and is seeking to appoint a Senior IT Support Engineer, as a member of the school staff, to respond to IT issues.  

    Normal hours are 8.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Monday to Friday (40 hours a week including a 30 minute unpaid lunchbreak) but the role requires some flexibility to work outside these hours.

    The person will be required to work a rota of one Saturday morning in three (8.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.) during School term time, taking a day off in lieu during the week.

    Salary will be negotiable and depend upon skills, qualifications and relevant experience

    Easter Revision Course Tutors

    Dean Close School Easter Revision Courses 2018 

    Five day course from Wednesday 4th April to Sunday 8th April 2018

    Following the second successful year of the popular Easter Revision Courses, Dean Close will be running the courses again in 2018.  The positive feedback from the 2016 and 2017 courses can be attributed to the highly experienced professional team that Dean Close had on board, and the School seeks to appoint additional tutors for 2018 along with an increased number of subject options.

    Tutors must be available for the Staff briefing 5.00pm on Tuesday 3rd April, and for the duration of the five day course which commences  Wednesday 4th  April 2018 until Sunday 8th April 2018

    Remuneration:

    Basic Pay £7.50 per hour plus Holiday Pay £0.91 = Total £8.41 per hour

    Holiday:

    • The holiday year runs from 1st September to 31st August each year.
    • Full time members of staff are entitled to 20 days and 8 days Bank Holidays during the year.
    • Holiday must be taken at times specified by the School which will be during the normal school holidays.
    • Part-time staff will have their holiday pro-rated accordingly.
    • Three days holidays must be retained for the period between Christmas and New Year.

    Job Description

    Housekeeping staff are required:

    • To provide a clean and pleasant environment and to cover occasional absences in the Housekeeping Department
    • To help maintain the fabric of foundation building in good condition
    • To maintain high levels of cleanliness throughout the foundation

    Main Duties and Responsibilities

    • To clean specified areas of the foundation to the required standard as instructed by the Housekeeper;
    • Wash floors, surfaces, fixtures and fittings and walls up to a specified height;
    • Cleaning inside windows up to a specified height;
    • Sweeping and vacuuming floors;
    • Polishing and dusting surfaces and furniture;
    • Cleaning toilets and shower areas;
    • Use cleaning materials as appropriate and according to their instructions for use;
    • To empty bins and remove rubbish from the premises;
    • To take recyclable materials to appropriate recycling points;
    • To report any damages to school property or other relevant matters to the Housekeeper;
    • To use power cleaning equipment as directed;
    • To undertake relevant non routine cleaning as instructed by the Housekeeper;
    • To undertake any relevant training as required;
    • To comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Regulations;
    • To take reasonable care for the Health and Safety of themselves and for others;
    • To co-operate with the employer in ensuring that Health and Safety Responsibilities are carried out;
    • To undertake any other relevant duties as instructed.
